Miss Lilla Bassett longtime Dallas kindergarten teacher died Sunday August 21 in Dallas. She was daughter of Major B H Bassett and Mrs Mary Burnett Bassett and sister of Mrs John Watson of Cameron. Funeral was held in Dallas then she was laid to rest in Brenham with several Bassett relatives attending from Cameron and Dallas.

Newton Evans aged 66 died after being struck by a passenger train while returning from fishing. He arrived in Cameron from Eastland and was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery beside his late wife after services at his home and a Baptist benediction. He left four daughters and two sons as survivors. J T Turner Dies From Injuries In Oil Field Accident
J T Turner 58 died from injuries after being crushed under machinery in an oil field near Rockdale while employed by Huff and Koch. He was taken to Cameron hospital then died at 1 30 PM the same day. remains sent to Houston for interment and funeral held there. His wife was hospitalized in Houston at the time of the accident.
