Four Deaths at Liberty Due to Influenza

J Greer of Liberty reports four influenza deaths in the Liberty area over ten days. Victims include John Wesley Lantrip of Milam County who died last Friday, Everett White who died last Sunday week, Jessie Nelson who died last Thursday, and Grandma Alley who died last week at Lantrip’s home. United War Work Campaign Organized in Milam County

The Milam County United War Work Campaign Committee met in Cameron to form a permanent organization with E. A. Camp as chair and Ed Simms as secretary. Precinct chairmen were named for eight beats, and the county quota set at $20,000. Precinct allotments ranged from $1,000 to $6,000, based on tax values and population, with local chairmen to organize solicitations. Community Councils of Defense will handle much of the work as literature is distributed and citizens urged to wear a United War Work button during November 11–18.
