War Council greets Red Cross chapters for annual meetings 1918 praising sacrifice and patriotism. It cites growth from 486,194 members in 1917 to over 20.6 million annual members in 1918, with 3,854 chapters and 80,000 auxiliaries, plus $115 million in first war fund and $176 million in second.
Milam County War Board ordered 95 white men from a list of 122 available to entrain on Monday, November 11. Draft call was delayed from October 7 due to influenza, with names including Paul O. Laake Jr and Joe Jeff Dunham among the listed eligible soldiers.
The Cameron influenza crisis is near or fully resolved with few cases reported in days past. Health Officer J G Townsend praised the ban on non essential venues and allowed cold drink stands pool halls confectionery shops and the picture show to reopen.
Report from Cameron on Tuesday notes W. A. Castleberry of Rockdale had his automobile painted yellow. Castleberry was among men highlighted in the Slackers Retreat, a yellow publication connected to the Fourth Liberty Loan Campaign in that city.

A letter from Monta J Moore Jr born in Cameron reveals he was wounded in France on September 29. He describes a four day battle, being hit five times through clothing, and a leg fracture with a long road to recovery while awaiting Base Hospital assignment.
J Greer of Liberty reports four influenza deaths in the Liberty area over ten days. Victims include John Wesley Lantrip of Milam County who died last Friday, Everett White who died last Sunday week, Jessie Nelson who died last Thursday, and Grandma Alley who died last week at Lantrip’s home. Condolences extend to the bereaved families.
The Cameron Commercial Club will hold its usual Friday night directors meeting in the District Court room at 8 o'clock. All directors and committee chairmen are requested to attend for a full meeting.
The Milam County United War Work Campaign Committee met in Cameron to form a permanent organization with E. A. Camp as chair and Ed Simms as secretary. Precinct chairmen were named for eight beats, and the county quota set at $20,000. Precinct allotments ranged from $1,000 to $6,000, based on tax values and population, with local chairmen to organize solicitations. Community Councils of Defense will handle much of the work as literature is distributed and citizens urged to wear a United War Work button during November 11–18.
County Clerk Jeff T. Kemp appeals to all qualified voters to participate in the general election next Tuesday. He says Democratic representation depends on those who voted in the primaries also voting, with polls at the usual locations and citizens urged to exercise their right.
Rockdale residents join a United War Work Campaign meeting led by E. A. Camp county chairman with The Rockdale Reporter editor John E. Cooke Rev. W. E. Copeland and Rev. R. W. Langham. The volunteers contribute time and names to the cause without pay, serving as local inspiration.

Mrs Henry Henderson of Burlington became Milam County s first lady to pay a poll tax for 1919 in the Milam County tax office. Collector Bill Alex Bonds and Assessor John Brock issued her poll tax receipt after she produced $1.75, marking a historic local milestone.
