Milam County Cotton Ginning Doubles From 1917 to 1918
The bureau report shows Milam county ginned 35 360 bales of cotton for 1918 crop before October 18, 1918, compared with 17 967 bales by October 18, 1917, indicating nearly a doubling and only 574 bales short of the 1918 total. Colored Institute in Annual Session Opens in Cameron
The colored teachers of Lee Burleson and Milam counties met for a five day tri county institute starting Monday November 4 at Light's Chapel Baptist church with about 120 teachers welcomed by county and city leaders. Officers were elected and program work advanced with instruction by Praire View College staff and local educators. Commander F Chadwick announced United War Work efforts as the session continued.
