Friends of the Cameron Public Library sponsor a Christmas bazaar on the city mall Saturday after the Chamber of Commerce parade. The event runs 10 30 a m to 8 p m with crafts gifts food and live entertainment. Booth spaces rent for 5 dollars and a Beautiful Baby Contest is set for 3 30 p.m. Local and out of town music groups plus the Yoe High band will perform. United Way funds support Cameron area Boy Scout activities with Pack 713 and Troop 752, plus two camps Camp Tahuaya near Belton and Camp Jimslaley between Waco and Marlin. Leaders include Cub Master James Camp and Scoutmasters Mike Troy and Greg Sheguit, with den mothers and a volunteer scout committee. Troop 752 meets at the Knights of Columbus Hall while Scout House repairs proceed in Ledbetter Park. Girl Scouts are inactive this year due to lack of leaders.
Buckholts Mayor Richard Crowe halted his San Diego to St. Augustine flight when oil pressure dropped near Brownwood. He landed at Temple airport at 6 30 a m with no engine restart. A four year effort using four planes ends for now. Lions Club plans to raise about 1000 dollars to retire a fire truck debt.
A three year old Dallas girl was slightly injured when a two car collision occurred around 2 15 Wednesday three miles south of Cameron on Highway 36. Garvin Babbitt of Iowa turned into a private drive and was struck in the rear by David Ford of Dallas. Ford’s daughter Buffie was taken to Cameron hospital for treatment of a head pump.
Joseph Stanley Faulder of Canada was found guilty of murder in Gladewater for the stabbing death of 79 year old Inez Phillips formerly Scarborough of Cameron during a July 1975 home robbery in Gladewater.
