Red Cross Meeting Wednesday in Waco on Blood for Korea

Mrs. Agnes Lowe announces an October 31 Red Cross meeting in the District Court Room at 2 30 PM to plan civilian blood donations for soldiers in Korea. Directors officers and the public are urged to attend as blood supply is critically needed and civilians are called to share the load. A Waco representative will speak and discussions aim to mobilize donors.

Formalities Set for Yee High Homecoming Parade and Bonfire

Yee High School plans a Thursday homecoming schedule with a 6 30 p m parade from the post office through the mercantile district to Lawless Green Field for a large bonfire. The Yeomen face Georgetown Eagles after which queen coronation selects the top ticket seller, yearbook sales and participation. An after game coffee in home economics hosts ex students registration hosted by Senior Class and faculty.

4-H Club Winners of Santa Fe Educational Awards

Fourteen 4-H club girls and boys from across Texas won Santa Fe Railway educational awards for outstanding club work. Winners attend the 4-H Congress in Chicago in November with all expenses paid. The event includes a Sears Roebuck Foundation luncheon in Fort Worth on November 23 before the convention November 25 to 29.

Local Attorney Plans To Attend Institute At Waco

Several hundred attorneys from about 30 Central and Central North Texas counties will attend a regional legal institute at the Raleigh Hotel in Waco on October 31. John B. McNamara Jr., president of the Waco McLennan County Bar Association, says it will be the largest gathering since a state Bar meeting. Jim Miller, a Cameron attorney and Baylor Law School graduate, plans to attend and has taken a lead in civic work since moving from Dalhart.

Secretary Praises Parole Board For Reducing Missing Parolees

Secretary of State John Ben Sheppard commended the Milam County Voluntary Parole Board for aiding the Texas Voluntary Parole System in functioning economically and satisfactorily. He noted a drop from 600 unaccounted parolees to 60 and praised board members for restoring delinquents to daily life. Additional board members are E. A. Camp and Leroy Massengale. Mrs. T. B. Stidham visited Austin to see her sister and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Brashear are the parents of a daughter born at St. Edward Hospital on Friday October 19 at 7 50 A M. The newborn Linda Diana weighs six pounds two ounces and both mother and child are doing fine. Mrs Brashear is the former Harriet Dodson. Grandparents are Mrs Nolan Dodson and Mrs Womack Brashear.

Jimmy Newton Reported Improved After Illness

Jimmy Newton grandson of Mr and Mrs Walter Newton of Cameron has polio and was treated at Parkland Hospital Dallas for 23 days. His condition was less favorable Sunday but improved Monday and friends express relief at the progress.

Alderman Robert Weems says enforcement is progressing well in the city with cooperation from residents and about six dogs impounded so far.
