Cameron C squad meets Rockdale C at Yee High Athletic Field at 7 30 p m Wednesday October 18. Coach Don Ross works on new plays aiming for a complete offensive and defensive toon. No injuries reported as Cameron seeks its fourth win after beating Rosebud Thorndale and Rockdale.
Mr and Mrs O L Hairgrove and daughter Jeanette with Mrs C B Leonard visited relatives in Fort Worth over the weekend.
Civil trial in District Court opened with Mrs. Anna Perry suing Continental Bus System for 25000 alleging injuries from a July 4, 1948 Rockdale crash. Perry and Camp and Camp of Cameron represent her. Judge Hart of Austin represents the bus firm.
Will Angell and Rev Lloyd McGin visited the home of Mr and Mrs Frank Angell here Sunday afternoon.
The Retail Training School finishes its two week course series this week with Hardlines classes at G I Vocational School starting 7 30 p m Monday and Wednesday and Softline classes at the Henderson Building Chamber of Commerce rooms starting 7 30 p m Tuesday and Thursday Luelle Dunn of Austin leads the instruction and merchants report benefits.
Mr and Mrs R P Cummings and their son from Gatesville spent the past weekend with Mr and Mrs George Rankin. The visit highlighted family time and local hospitality.
Cameron business leaders form a committee to press the city council for early action on securing the right of way along highways 190 and 386. They advocate using city general funds and warrants instead of bonds to avoid tax increases and protect taxpayers.
Benny and Betty Theiler express gratitude to Walkers Creek Home Demonstration Club members and community friends for the October 14 shower at Walkers Creek School. Special thanks go to club president Mrs. V L Angell for her time in preparing the event.
The Yoe High School Homemaking Department under Mrs. W. T. Whatley and Mrs. Beatrice Wiese rode to the State Fair in Dallas by bus Saturday. They left early at 4 30 AM, breakfasted in Hillsboro with the FFA Chapter, reached Dallas by 9 AM, enjoyed exhibits and shows, then returned via Waco for supper and a singing finale near Cameron.
Lor etta Borck, Milam County Chief Clerk, disclosed that a new member for the Milam County draft board will be named soon. F. G. Blake, chairman since 1948, has been transferred to the Calvert board after long Robertson County residence. Board members are chosen on recommendation of the County Judge, County Clerk, County Superintendent and local veterans representatives.
Walter R. Schattle, airman first class in the US Navy and son of Mrs. Henry J. Schattle Sr. of Cameron, recently completed Aviation Structural Mechanic School in Memphis Tennessee. He attended Yoe High School before enlisting in 1949.
Mr and Mrs Lawrence McClaren attended the A and M VMI game at College Station on Saturday night, joining fans at the college venue to watch the matchup.
