Mexican Girls Released After Kidnapper Case In Milam County
Two Mexican girls Helen Maya and Frances Cano were freed from Milam County Jail Monday after being kidnapped by four convicts who escaped Sugar Land prison farm. Sheriff Kennedy traced the fugitives to near Gause and coordinated with McLennan officers as the tale of the car wrecks and a planned bank robbery emerged.

Mrs. Sam Hefley Dies in Houston
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Sam Hefley who died in a Houston hospital at 8:20 a.m. Saturday. She was widow of Cameron businessman and former Texas legislator. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery after services by Rev. W. M. Cloyd. She was born in Cameron and survived by a Houston sister and a New York brother.

Noted jurist Judge W C Davis of Bryan is in Cameron to try a case as Judge Gillis is disqualified, exchanging benches for the week. Buick Car Burns On Highway Near Cameron
A 1939 Buick coach driven by R. Biggerstaff of the International Harvester Company caught fire Tuesday while en route to Taylor. Biggerstaff noticed smoke near Sandy Creek, stopped, and found the rear trunk in flames. The cause was not determined. The car was towed to Cameron by a local wrecker service.
