Cameron fans await an 8 p m Friday showdown as the Taylor Gridsters known as the Ducks visit the Yoemen at home. This long anticipated clash follows Taylor’s 7 6 win over Austin earlier season and a later tie with Smithville.
Assistant Scoutmaster Shorty Matu la opened Troop 52 activity with the theme song led by Frank Rich ter. A "Quiz" tested scouts while the Stepping Stanislaw Brothers staged a hike. Troop 52 meets at K of C Hall 6:30 pm hike night. illness of Mrs Lindle noted and requests for visits.
B B Coolley, 69, died at his Marlin home Sunday October 15 and was buried Monday at 4 pm. The Cameron-born former deputy sheriff, marshal, and constable was survived by his wife and five children. Attending Cameron mourners included Lottie Bigbee and Earl Burke plus several relatives.
The publisher warns that time and space are limited and will omit marginal items to avoid free space grafters. Mr and Mrs August Horstmann spent Sunday in Dallas with relatives.
The Postal Telegraph and Cable Company equips its Cameron office with a Teletype Machine System identical to major offices. Mrs. Florence Ard supervises and instructs staff, staying for weeks and inviting the public to view the teletype in operation. The upgrade promises faster telegraph service for patrons.
Cameron Theatre announces a football matinee Friday starting at 10 oclock featuring My Weakness as the top billing. Midnight shows have grown popular since the football season began in Cameron and the Friday program is among the best yet for the late screenings.
Milam County completed its quota of 30 men for the forest camps and will not enlist again until the next call. All recruits were sent to East Texas camps via J. P. Love, Milam County administrator.
In Memoriam W A Morrison by T A Fisher on Friday August 17 1933 honors W A Morrison a Cameron Texas advocate for childhood rights and public education He taught in Milam County rural schools studied law at the University of Texas and was admitted to the bar in 1891 His life centered on improving rural schools and advancing a unified Texas education system He helped establish Milam County County Superintendent office and served 22 years as Milam County Board of Education chair and 44 times elected as a member See MORRISON on page 2.
During the Catholic Jubilee on October 11, workers removed the church corner stone of the First Catholic Church. The stone, laid June 23, 1801, concealed a document wrapped in paper in a glass bottle. The paper bore Geo. A. Thomas Drug Store letterhead and a Milam County Bank date stamp dated June 23, 1891. The note, by Rev. P. M. Lennartz, was in Latin and read Salutem Benevolenti Sectori Auctoritate Apostolicia Sede Mihi.
The Yoemen beat Hearne Eagles 21 0 before 1200 to 1500 fans on Friday the 13th marking their first victory in four years. Breeding scored the first TD after strong ground plays and added the extra point as Yoemen led 7 0 and expanded later with shutout defense and continued drives toward Hearne’s 20 yard line.
Mrs Magdalena Kolinek 88 died at her son Loura Kolinek Sharp’s home at 12 20 am October 16 1933 after several months illness. Born in Austria she lived 60 years in Texas. Survived by five children and many grandchildren. Catholic burial rites conducted by Father Creiss at residence 10 am Tuesday then church services in Taylor with interment 2 30 pm in Elgin cemetery.
Giant Utility man Homer Peel previews the World Series victory by the Giants noting team harmony and Bill Terry’s leadership. He credits preseason confidence from Pacific Coast training defeats of Pittsburgh and Chicago, and recalls a dismissive West Virginia editor turned back to praise.
W F Ponkonein a former Cameron cotton merchant and Ben Arnold resident died at his Taylor home. Funeral services were held at Ben Arnold with burial in the Ben Arnold cemetery. he had prior business ties in Cameron and Ben Arnold before moving to Taylor.
Stanton Dossett of Cameron and Sam Hefley travel to Dallas to join a reception tendered to John N. Garner and James A. Farley, with Dossett on the reception committee and Hefley a former state legislator and notable Democrat.
Salem residents and visitors are listed attending family gatherings visits and illnesses. Names include Mr. and Mrs. Geo Gambler W R Harris Amuel Johnson F B Burkeen Tinnie Sharpe Tillie Richter Verlie Tucker Josephine Ryan Lois Harlica Viola Harlica and others with mentions of Miss Tinnie Sharp and Miss Viola Newsom. Several trips to Marakaville and west Texas for cotton work are noted.
Milano Connoley kept his regular Sunday appointment and hopes for another year. Visitors Mrs Coffey Mrs Bryant Bullock came to Temple Monday. Mr and Mrs Luther Hughes, whose home burned last Sunday, were given a shower by Milano ladies Tuesday.

The NRA Compliance Board elected Wm. Henderson as permanent chairman and is ready to function with members P. W. Davis A. B. E. Matula C. W. Bradbury Hilton Culpepper and B. P. Matocha attorney for the Board. Grievances for non observance of the NRA Code must be in writing with the aggrieved signature or they will not be considered.
Advance news of the Hallowe en Carnival on the school campus promises thrills. Freshmen through seniors sponsor a Fish Pond a Surprise Booth soft drinks and a Japanese Booth.
