Yoe High to Stage Biggest Homecoming Parade and Rally
Yoe High plans an 11 a.m. homecoming parade and pep rally to honor ex-students for the Cameron Caldwell game. Senior Rita Moran leads a class queen float with juniors Carol Ann Heitman Patsy Anderle and Patricia Janek as nominees. The parade route goes from the Post Office to courthouse area then to the pep rally in the Homemaking Department. Superintendent Wiley Loughmiller will crown the queen at halftime with escorts by football captains.

Councilmen Discuss Garbage Truck Bid and Tax Review
The Cameron city council held a regular meeting on Tuesday night October 16 to study bids for a packer type garbage truck under a lease option plan. Dulaney Service Company explained the economy and efficiency of the truck reducing trips to the dump by about 80 percent. The council also voted to recall the City Board of Equalization to recheck tax renditions and delinquent taxes, and to study uncollected traffic fines with City Attorney Bill Black.

AWOL Sailor Taken Into Custody Here
Cecil Wayne Baker a 29 year old Conroe native with Cameron listed as his home was captured Tuesday night by City Patrolman Warren McCall. He was held for the U S Navy on an AWOL charge and turned over to military authorities at Fort Hood Wednesday morning. The Navy requisition said he was absent without leave from his post as a seaman with the Texas Group Atlantic Reserve Fleet Orange Texas.

Council decides bids for police car and road items
The council found parties at fault on several matters and approved buying two maintainer tires. They voted to move a street light back into the city after recently being placed 38 feet outside city limits. A new bid request was issued for an interceptor police car with no other specifications to widen local dealer competition.
Dr Thomas Leland Denson 55 Dies at Cameron Home
Dr. Thomas Leland Denson fifty five of Cameron dies at his home Saturday afternoon. He suffered a fatal coronary while watching a football game and reportedly spoke to his housemaid before passing. A Baylor graduate and physician, he chaired Milam County Medical Society, served on multiple medical committees, and helped found the Denson Clinic. Survivors include his widow, a daughter, a son, a brother, and two sisters. Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery followed services at Green Funeral Home with large attendance.
