O G Tumlinson of Cameron was chosen president of the Milam County Farm Bureau for 1957 succeeding John A Smith who led the county for three years. Other officers include Robert Jungmann first vice president Bernice Charles second vice president Lenora A Bickett secretary treasurer and a slate of directors. Tumlinson a rancher from Cameron Route 1 is a graduate of A and M College and spent 13 years with the university Extension Service as a district agricultural agent.

The Elm Creek Flood Control program aims to reach the head of the creek with the sixth weekly meeting set for 7 30 p m this evening. Buster Griffin reports about 40 attended the Troy session last Thursday as Avrel Crawford and Jim Redden were elected temporary posts. Verne C Marshall and Carl Young spoke along with Mr Pridgen of the Soil Conservation Service. A local volunteer offered to install on his land. Cameron area residents attended and plan to join Moody Griffin for future meetings possibly November 1 at a yet to be announced date.

Man Receives Arm Injury in Street Altercation
Roy Seaton was taken to Cameron Hospital on Saturday afternoon October 20 for a cut muscle in the right arm after a fight near the Gillis Street and Central Avenue intersection. Rabbit Hawkins, a 67 year old colored man, cut Seaton. Both men were arrested by Chief Willie Dolan and charged with fighting. Each was fined 21.50 including costs in city court Monday.

Mourning Dove Banded Near Cameron During Hunt
Clifford W. Angell of Route 2 Cameron bagged a Mourning Dove eight miles northwest of Cameron on Sept 15. The bird, banded June 8 1955 by Louisiana Wildlife Department at Selman Field Monroe Louisiana, tied to Angell visiting from Wharton Junior College.

District Play Begins In Stephenville Tilt
Football on the district level starts at 8 p m Friday in Yoe Stadium as the Cameron Yoemen face Stephenville. The Yoemen are 3 and 3, while Stephenville leads in the district. Both teams use similar formations and similar line and backfield weights. Coach Leo Jackson is optimistic for the first time in a month as the squad returns in uniform. Comptroller Robert S. Calvert reports Texas spent over 70 million while receipts were about 59 million in September, leaving a net cash balance of 32.67 million in the general revenue fund. Last year September showed a surplus as expenditures reached 63 million against 69 million in revenue.

Former Senator Kyle Vick Milam County Backer Dies
Kyle Vick former state senator and Waco lawyer died early Tuesday October 16. He helped Milam County gain funds and rights of way for the Little River Bridge on Highway 77 at Cameron. Construction resumed after World War II and the bridge opened in summer 1947. He was 64. Funeral services were held October 24 at Wilkinson Hatch Chapel.
