The Cameron Yoemen plan to host the Henderson Lions at 7 30 p m Friday after Henderson arrives by bus. Marlin canceled its home game with Cameron due to flu affecting about a dozen players, leaving Bonham as the only potential replacement opponent.
Buckholts High selects candidates for the band queen contest. Band director Max McClaren says the contest runs until October 31, with the winner to be crowned at halftime during the homecoming game versus Sharp Mus tangs.
Miss Beverly Morgan daughter of Mr and Mrs C A Morgan Cameron was crowned band sweetheart at halftime ceremonies by Supt Wiley Loughmiller. Band mascot Donna Kay Burke was cited as cute and was presented bouquets along with Miss Morgan.
Cameron merchants offer big savings on clothing piece goods and household items. Local stores advertise mid county deals inviting Milam County shoppers to compare prices with Central Texas and support their hometown Herald.
Cameron County inventor C W Hudson and his crew completed the 20 by 12 foot Queen Milam houseboat in four weeks. The vessel rests on 24 drums and weighs 6500 pounds, with a 15 horsepower motor and sleeping space for 19 aboard.

District 10 of the Texas Classroom Teachers plan a Saturday workshop in Cameron at Yee High School starting 9 a.m. The program titled TCTA Presents Lesson for 1957 will be led by Mrs Mary Alexander of Palestine, state TCTA president, with help from affiliated clubs. A lunch at Ben Milam Cafetorium and a Cameron Future Teachers reception will follow. Public is invited.
Cameron Trades Days will begin Thursday October 17 in participating stores. Chamber of Commerce president Henry Liebman said inquiries about Trades Day have been answered and participation is strong. Local merchants announced special promotions for the weekly event to attract shoppers.
H E McAtee opens a new Mobil service station at the intersection of US 77 and SH 36 in Cameron with grand opening planned Saturday. This is the first of two Cameron stations, the second on West Fourth Street built by Mr and Mrs Jack Commer. McAtee is a veteran Cameron service station operator.
Cameron Jaycees launch Santa Pal toy drive placing red barrels in downtown spots for donations of new or used toys. Chairman Henry Schuttle says aim is about 500 local children, with volunteers repairing and repainting toys. collection runs through October with project work starting November 1.
The Cameron Parent Teachers Association will meet at 7 30 p m tonight at Ada Henderson School. The Rev Richard J Bradshaw rector of All Saints Episcopal Church will lead a program titled Parents and Youth Can Be Partners with a school panel. A nursery will be open in the homemaking department for attending parents children admitted free. October 1 membership deadline noted.
