Willard Graham Dies in Virginia Plane Crash

Willard Graham 33 of Midland was killed when a Plymouth Oil Co twin engine plane crashed near Waynesboro Virginia in foggy weather. He was a regional geologist for Plymouth Oil Co and survived by wife Margie and a son Alan. Funeral plans set at First Christian Church with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Tragedy Strikes Cameron Man Over Lost Billfold

R B Collier 85 of 712 North Fannin Cameron reports losing his billfold at Stewarts Grocery after stopping for a parking meter coin. It contained pension money for he and his wife leaving 25 cents. Yoe-Roo Grid Tickets On Sale At YHS

Cameron and Killeen officials met in Austin to map plans for the bid district clash. The game is set for Friday night November 26 at 8 p.m. in Killeen. Cameron reps include Supt Hanes and Principal Layfield. Killeen reps include Supt Ellison and Principal Stanley. The Milam Theatre reopens after remodeling with new seating carpeting rest rooms projection equipment and a wide Cinemascope screen. Funeral Services Held In Milano For Mrs. W Willingham

Funeral services for Mrs. W J Willingham were held at the Milano Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Berry officiating. Burial followed in Milano Cemetery with Phillip Lucky funeral directors of Rockdale in charge. Survived by seven daughters and two sons. Betty Jo Mullinax of Houston visited relatives.

Kiwanis Conference For Cameron Hosts Over 60 Attendees

Newly formed local Kiwanis club in Cameron will host a division nine conference at the Country Club on November 28. The program starts at 10:30 with registration, church service at 11, lunch at 12:15, and business meetings through 3:15 led by Lt. Governor Sid Loveless and Lt. Gov. Elect Jess Petty. Cameron Theatre Closes for Short Repair

The Cameron Theatre will close starting Monday November 22 for a few days to complete repairs. Manager Dean White expresses regret over the interruption but promises bigger and better entertainment after the remodel. Mrs. S. S. Hickman of Jones Prairie recently visited.

City of Cameron files appeal in County Criminal docket on Saturday November 13 seeking review of County Judge Charles C. Smith Jr verdict of guilty for a parking meter ticket. Judge Smith maintains he is not guilty and defends his stance on courthouse square meters.

The Cameron Council of Church Women sponsors a statewide drive to collect 32 gifts for men women and children in need. Rev Ledbetter Dies Ex Milano Pastor in Austin

Rev. R. E. Ledbetter, former Milano Methodist Church pastor for four years, died at his Austin home on Saturday Nov. 20 after months of declining health. Funeral services were held Monday Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the Milano church. Also notes a Buckholts visitor to Cameron.

Safe Locked At Time Of Church Robbery

Authorities report the First Methodist church safe was locked during Sunday robbery and note the theft appeared professional with Dorothy Johnson’s purse missing $48. A cloth atop the safe was moved after Sheriff Black’s visit, and a teacher recalls seeing a stranger near the church steps. The First Baptist Church in Calvert was robbed during services Sunday.

Charlie Brannon Buried in Milano Cemetery

Funeral services were held at Milano Baptist Church for Charlie Brannon with Rev. Fox officiating. Burial followed in Milano Cemetery. Brannon died in a Houston hospital on Tuesday November 9 after an extended illness. Survived by two daughters and four sons, all of Houston except son Gene in Washington. Former Milano resident.

Mrs W M White aged 75 died Wednesday at her niece’s home. A Milam County native who lived in Salem all her life she was daughter of H C Ledbetter. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gibson in Milano was destroyed by fire Friday night. Officials do not know the blaze origin. The Gibsons were away in Moulton on business and planned to move there soon. the house and furnishings were a total loss.

Rev Clyde Holtmann Named Pastor of Rockdale Church

Rev Clyde Holtmann will assume duties as pastor of Saint Josephs Catholic Church in Rockdale on December 4 1954. He began his parish duties September 1 1951 and was ordained that year. He also led the youth organization and headed the Explorer Scout Troop of the parish.
