Planning discussions continue on the Cameron Volk Fete slated for June. Inquiries into New Braunfels Wurstfest show Cameron’s ethnic representation would attract Milam County residents with a pageant beauty contest ethnic dance and live music offering a distinct Central Texas attraction.
A Milam County petit jury ruled in favor of Essie L. Swain of Cameron in a district court case over a life insurance policy for VY Malone Jr. The verdict found the teen died from wounds not intentionally inflicted during a cafe scuffle with Larry Nichols at West 4th Street on July 3. National Life and Accident Insurance Co. was the defendant.
Cameron Seaman aboard the USS Hornet witnesses Apollo 12 splashdown from 385 miles east of American Samoa. The Hornet, prime recovery vessel for Apollo 8 10 and 11 12, will escort astronauts Pete Conrad Alan Bean and Richard Gordon returning from Ocean of Storms. The crew includes Seaman first class Frank L Ew ing and anti submarine squadron four and Underwater Demolition Team 1 divers ready to aid the recovery.
Helen Stanford, convicted of felOnly theft in Milam County in 1967, has been paroled by Gov. Preston Smith on the Board of Pardons and Waroles recommendation. Stanford received a seven year sentence with credit for four years and seven months.
The Noon Lions Club and Cameron Rotary Club invite members to a joint luncheon at Cameron Country Club in Gan Tuesday. Senator Watson, Texas Senate since 1962, has led as President Pro Tem and once served as governor for a day. He began in the Texas House in 1937 and represents the 18th District. He is a Bayou Law School graduate and practicing attorney in Waco.
The Herald plans to publish season schedules and twice weekly box score reports for Milam area teams Buckholis Milano Rosebud Rogers Thorndale Rockdale and Cameron during the 1969 70 cage season. Readers urged to attend games to boost home team performance and encourage coaches to report scores.
The Cameron Community Thanksgiving Service is planned for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday November 26 at Abiding Saviour Lutheran Church. Rev Emilian Foltyn of St Monica's Catholic Church will speak. the Yee High Choir will perform. Dedication of Cameron’s new Lutheran church is scheduled for December 7 with this service marking Rev Foltyn’s Cameron debut. Churches cooperating include First Baptist First United Methodist Battetown Baptist Gospel Tabernacle All Saints Episcopal First Christian First Presbyterian Abiding Saviour Lutheran St Monica's Catholic Assembly of God Hope Lutheran Buckholts Trinity Baptist.

District Engineer Joe Hanover told Cameron officials and Milam County representatives that 1970 road program funds total about $2 million, doubling the decade's average. He cited US 79 and US 77 work, FM 485 upgrades, new bridges, and resurfacing plans, noting 23 highway workers and long-serving staff.

Yoe High School Marching Band will compete in UIL marching at Baylor Stadium Waco on Tuesday at 11 40 a.m. It marks the first UIL appearance since 1946 with 31 bands in the region. Band director Bob Carney says the group is limited to 85 students after auditions.
The Cameron First Christian Church marks seventy seven years with a 1925 wood building fire, rebuilding plan and a modern brick sanctuary begun five months later. Beginning in 1891, a small group formed from a Texas Christian Missionary Society meeting in Cameron, leading to the church’s founding.
