Nona Miller was hired Monday as program aide for the county Emergency Food Program. She begins December 1 with an office at the Cameron commodity distribution center. County Judge O B Harden said the advisory committee was flooded with applications after a Herald article.

Weather Notes Temperatures Dip After Damp Day

Temperatures fell to 33 degrees early Wednesday after a wet day with heavy rainfall reported. The rest of the notes show scattered temperatures and numerical readings, including highs near 79 and multiple lows around mid to upper 50s, with varied figures listed.

Gas Explosion Blamed in Fatal Davis Street Fire

Investigation into the 1608 N. Davis home destruction found the cause listed as SAS explosion. Seth Dees died in the early morning fire on November 11. Sheriff Carl Black released the finding closing the case.

Three Car Crash Leads to DUI Charge in Milam County

Jody W. Kenney of Cameron faces driving while intoxicated charges after a Saturday night three vehicle collision. Police say Kenney's 1967 Chevrolet Camaro turned onto North Houston from West street, hit a parked car owned by Mrs. Bill Marek, crossed to a lot, then struck Mariano De La Rosa on US 190 Four th Street. Damages were estimated at 1200, 200, and 165 dollars with no injuries.

Rylander Burns in Trash Fire at Home

Ray Rylander, 16, a Yee High junior, received second and third degree burns to his neck left ear and right ear while burning trash at his home on Old Maysfield Road around 5 p m Saturday. He is in good condition and expected to be released by the weekend. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Lewis Rylander.

Judge Black Urges Big Scale Agriculture for World Market

County Judge William Black former general counsel of the Agriculture Committee tells Cameron Rotarians agriculture must go big and stay in the world market citing a 6.5 billion export surplus and noting only 41 districts have 25 percent or more farmers.
