Local Texas draft boards received the first call for examinations of physicians dentists and veterinarians totaling 95 doctors 42 dentists and 54 veterinarians. Examinations will occur November 20 to 24 with future December dates not yet set. Readiness coded by Wakefield notes many registrants are available and some boards have no eligibles. Locations include Amarillo Abilene Corpus Christi El Paso Texarkana San Antonio Houston Dallas and Shreveport. Dr Marvin Bartlett says many doctors volunteer and local doctors may avoid service.

In Cameron the lightest general election turnout in 20 years saw only 238 ballots cast as 1 347 poll taxes were paid. County clerk Homer Nabours expected tabulation Wednesday as many ballot boxes remained out. The Cole & Walters circus and menagerie will perform in Cameron on Wednesday November 15 with an afternoon and night show.
