Dr William R Newton 64 a renowned surgeon and Texas State Senator from the 13th District died around noon Saturday after a heart attack at his home Friday night He was taken to Cameron Hospital where physicians attempted an operation though they believed recovery unlikely He died of a blood clot in a heart artery remaining conscious until near death and calmly faced his passing with friends and nurses nearby.

Dr. D Monroe Dies in Cameron After Illness
Dr. D Monroe aged 87 died Monday morning May 23, 1938 at 8 oclock in the home of his son Frank Monroe. Born December 16, 1850 in Selma Alabama he moved to Texas in 1876 settling at Yarrellton near Cameron later moving to Cameron. His wife Mrs Monroe died in 1924 and he had lived with his son for the last years.

Mrs Lula K Davis Dies in Bryan Home
Lula K. Davis, 71, former Cameron resident, died May 18, 1958, at her daughter’s Bryan home. She was born in Mobile Alabama and mother to 11 children, with survivors including Mrs Otis Hairston and Mrs C N Skipper in Cameron, plus W A Davis and J F Davis in New York City and San Francisco. Funeral services were held at the residence with burial in Henry Prairie Cemetery.
