Freeman to Lead Ridgewood Park Methodist Church Dallas
Reverend Richard Freeman, longtime pastor in Cameron since January 1968, will become pastor of Ridgewood Park Methodist Church in Dallas in mid June. He has served in civic groups, led fundraising efforts, and helped reorganize the United Fund. The Ridgewood Park church, near SMU on Central Expressway, is in the Northwest Texas Conference and currently meets in a new Fellowship Hall. Freeman and his family move June 7, with his Cameron farewell on June 4.

Adult Literacy Workshop Set in Cameron Public Library
The Cameron Literacy Council sponsors a two day literacy workshop at Cameron Public Library May 26 and 27. Marion Vann of Baylor Literacy Center will lead sessions from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday with an noon break. Eight volunteer teachers currently work to teach adults to read. The program uses the Laubach method and materials are available through Baylor Book Store.

Luling Oil and Gas reports test figures on the No. 1 Joe Martin discovery in Milam County. The Wilcox well flowed 56 barrels per day with no water on a one quarter inch choke, making it a strong local producer but below earlier rumors of 70 to 200 BPD. The Joe Martin lies six miles south of Milano in Smith Vincent Survey and helps extend the Milbur Field.
