Andrew Rhoades Killed In Highway 69 Crash Near Rockdale
Andrew Jefferson Rhoades, 20, of Williamson county Rural out of Taylor, died after his lumber truck overturned on Highway 69 near Rockdale around 11:30 p m. Gene Kelley of Barksdale Louisiana, a soldier, survived severe bruises and burns and is expected to recover. Kelley rode with Rhoades on furlough en route to San Antonio. Rhoades had an army induction order dated May 28. The wreck occurred, Rhoades pinned beneath the truck after the crash. his body was recovered around 4 a m. from the scene and is believed to have lived about three hours after impact. Mrs. Sarah White, sheriff, reported the accident. Kelley is recovering at Cameron Hospital.

Floyd Hatch Returns Home After Two Years Overseas
Floyd Hatch came home last week after two years in the South Pacific off the Gold Coast of Africa. He served with a maintenance unit of the Army Air Corps and saw many aircraft in action. Hatch, a maintenance mechanic, was guest speaker at Cameron Rotary Club last Wednesday. he is married to Martha Frances Gillis and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Huffman of Cameron.

Fleecy, Cameron’s Persian aristocrat cat, died under anesthesia at age 16. The pet, born in Dallas and brought to Cameron by Vernon Roberts, lived with Mr. and Mrs. J. B.
