Cameron native Aleck Lazek listed as missing over Germany
Aleck A. Lazek 22 lifelong Cameron resident and former Yeemen high school star lineman is missing in action over Germany. The War Department telegram to his parents states he was in a Fortress B 17 bomber as gunner and bombardier and has been missing since April 29 with crew of about nine. Lazek served five years in the Army Air Corps after graduating in 1939 and had been on foreign duty for three months. He letters from England April 26 describe hardship of war. He is survived by his parents two sisters and a brother.

Draft registrant loses arm in highway crash near Milano
Thomas E. Elliott a 23 year old draft registrant moving from Freeport to Waco lost his left arm Tuesday night when his car sideswiped a truck on Highway 86 near Milano. His wife Mrs Elliott escaped with minor injuries as he was rushed to Cameron Hospital aided by Edward Sell of Cameron.

Frank Slavik Returns Home From 20 Months At Sea
Frank Slavik seaman and cook aboard a United States merchant ship is home on furlough after 20 months at sea in the Pacific. He shipped from a Gulf Port in Texas in September 1942 and hopes to sail again to the Atlantic or Arctic lanes. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Jos Slavik Sr of Marak and his brother Johnnie Slavik is a Navy radio technician in training.
