Thorndale hosts an old time box supper and athletic festival under flood lights at the softball field Friday night starting 7 o'clock. Sponsored by the Thorndale High School Athletic Council the event features a high school girls versus fathers softball game a negro battle royal and a wirls track meet.
Voting in the city wide poll to elect a Sweetheart for the Cameron band will close on Friday May 22 at 1 p.m. Funds are needed for uniforms and other equipment for the band. Votes cost five cents each. Citizens are urged to cast ballots.
Plans for the Yee High School graduation exercises include a May 31 sermon by Rev. Henry F. Selver of Marshall and a June 1 commencement on the athletic field. The program lists processional invocation vocal solo salutatory valedictory music address diplomas and presentations with church and school officials in attendance.
Cameron Teers, a new ball club sponsored by Hayden Lawrence, opened with a 9 to 0 victory. Manager Reden Alford will field a squad featuring A. & M. College transfers Dowling, Jackson, and Spreen. Team plans include Rosebud game May 24 and a June 7 doubleheader with Temple Surgeons.
An ice cream supper and community party will be held at the Bryant Station School House on Saturday May 24 at eight p m. Everyone is invited to attend.
