Milano High School Nears Closure as Term Ends
Milano this week marks the end of another term with Gramar School closed last Friday. Baccalaureate is set for Wednesday night at the school auditorium. Commencement exercises Friday feature valedictorian Helen Lankford and salutatorian Colgate Denis. Eleven graduates are expected.

Oil strike in Texas eyed as major new field opens
Rockdale near Caldwell in Burleson County marks a landmark oil discovery. Cronon and Gracy of Houston drilled the well praised by Robbie Robinson for its geology. Robinson notes nearly three quarters of a million dollars spent before the strike. He predicts the discovery will become a key Texas oil map point. The Red Bank Oil Company is a small independent, with Gulf and others larger in comparison.

Structure lies east of the Milano Uplift as high grade 84 gravity crude oil is reported. Mr. Robinson says cost of drilling wells in the new field may deter operations somewhat but substantial activity is possible due to acreage holding along the fault.
