Fatal Collision at Milam Crossroads Involving Wiese and Cook

A crash at the Milam cross roads around 10:30 a.m. Thursday May 11 killed Robert W. Wiese 50 Cameron businessman and seriously injured Carroll Cook 50 Austin. Wiese died on arrival at St Edward's Hospital Cameron. Cook remains in serious condition at John's Hospital Taylor with multiple injuries. State Patrolman Gilbert Smith cited failure to yield right of way as the cause. The two vehicles a 1960 Chevrolet pickup and a 1958 Ford collided at FM Rds 487 and 486 near McDonald's Store tipping the pickup and sending it into a pasture.

Action Deferred Until June Meet on City Replacement

City Council defers vote on replacing Richard W. Moseley until June 5 after Mayor Duncum submits four candidates for Place 3 Cameron. Names include Starrett Hickman C E Curtis Lincoln Mendick and Homer Allen. Moseley resigned May 1 to join Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.

Little League Plans Public Meeting on Fund Drive

Cameron Little League officials announce a 7:30 p.m. meeting at Cameron Park for Minor and Little League players and parents to discuss funding. Only 200 of the 1500 needed has been raised to insure and equip about 200 registered youngsters for summer baseball.

Youth, 20, Critical After Explosion Near Clarkson

Leon Ernst Jr., 20, of Clarkson, is in critical condition at St. Edward's Hospital after a butane tank explosion at the Joe Pagach farm. He suffered burns covering about 95 percent of his body when his car ignited escaping gas. The Pagach family aided victims, with William Pagach sustaining minor burns.

City Woman Hurt As Car Overturns Near Cameron

Doris Pearl Brazzel of Cameron is recovering from a neck injury in Newton Hospital after a one car wreck Sunday night on FM 269 six miles from Cameron. The car left the road and overturned on the Cameron Yarrelton highway.

Obituary for Robert Wiese 50 Cameron Lumber Co. owner

Funeral services were held at Marek-Burns for Robert Wiese of Cameron who died in an auto accident at age 50. He owned Wiese Lumber Co. and lived in Cameron 17 years. Born April 12 1911 in Brenham he was a member of San Andres Masonic Lodge and Sons of Herman. Survived by wife mother sister and a niece. Pallbearers named.

Driver Demolishes New Car in One-Vehicle Crash

Barney Edward Mauro of Bryan escaped injury when his new car with 11.8 miles on the odometer left US 79 about a mile west of Milano and rolled over in a solitary accident. State Patrolman Gilbert Smith reported Mauro was alone and unharmed as the vehicle was a total wreck.

Car Rolls Twice Driver Uninjured Near Rockdale

John Edgar of Minerva rolled his car over twice after striking two guard posts near San Gabriel Bridge six miles from Rockdale on FM 487 at about 3 30 p m Sunday. He escaped injury as the vehicle left the roadway and overturned onto the road.

Truck Brakes Cause Two Fires South of Cameron

A furniture truck overturned into two fires on Milano Highway south of Cameron around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday. Faulty brakes caused the truck fire. minor damage to the truck and no injuries to driver Frank Griffes. Cameron firefighters also responded to a grass fire at 4 p.m. sparked by the burning truck.
