Mr. Black educational director at the Cameron Baptist church spoke on attaining the Standard of Excellence for Sunday school. He offered help and emphasized the need for a Sunday school annex.
A Baylor B U office display at Baylor reminds readers that hot weather should not deter worship. The writer notes a large sign equating pain with bearing a cross and suggests applying the lesson to Walker's Creek by substituting hot weather for pain.
The pastor of both B Y P U churches announces a Sunday night visit to Branchville. He says the event should be appreciated and not interfere with preaching, and urges nonmembers to join the delegates in attending.
We are happy to say that Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bryant united with us as candidates for baptism on last fifth Sunday morning. These two fine people have lived in our community for years and are loved by all who know them. Four of their daughters and two sons are already members of our church.
The community praises Mrs. Feddie Lee Brown and Mr. George A. Angell for their good work this year. A school day luncheon and entertainment accompanied the final day activities. Married men played the school boys in the standout ball game.
The couple, the bride daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Rylander, and the groom son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Williams, wed in a spring chiffon gown with brown trimming. She is a Yee High School graduate of 1927, active in church work. he is a Yee High School class of 1926 alum and a bookkeeper at Citizens National Bank. They left Braunsfels for Austin and San Antonio then plan to live with his parents.
At Yee High School auditorium on May 11 Mrs. Paul Webb showcased eight pupils in a piano recital. The program featured trios duets solos and lively pieces with names such as Zora Clark Wilkerson Ruth Mode Helen Ryan Frances Terry Ruth Hobson Billie Marek Rosalie Matoena Katherine Monroe Patricia Lyon and others in a well staged performance.
The church reports fine crowds for Mother's Day with smaller adult class attendance than last Sunday while younger departments were stronger. A joint League program is set for 7:00 p.m. Sunday with all leagues participating. Morning sermon titled Hearth-Stone Religion. evening sermon on A Hymn of the Cross with choir interludes and two voices singing the hymn Art Thou Weary. Families and friends are urged to attend.
Miss Beatrice Rylander married Mr. Lester Williams in a Sunday morning Methodist church ceremony as part of the Mother's Day program. Rev. P T Ramsey officiated the ring ceremony with Clinton on organ providing Lohengrin selection. The couple had no attendants and were later seated at the rear before a surprise announcement.
