Little George Bollinger Dies at Six Months

The family of Mr and Mrs George Bollinger mourns the death of their six month old son George Gilbert Jr who fell ill three weeks ago with whooping cough while visiting relatives across the Little River floods kept them away from home. Pneumonia developed and despite care the child died Friday night near the City Park residence. Rev W J Milton conducted the funeral Saturday afternoon and burial was in Oak Hill cemetery. The Herald and friends extend sympathy.

Train Delayed After Wreck Near Coaldale

The Tango train due at Cameron at 8 33 a m was an hour late Thursday after a wreck at Coaldale between Cameron and Milano. A flat car loaded with lumber and a box car jumped the track and damaged the line for miles. Passengers in the rear coaches felt a slight shock but no injuries were reported amid the high speed crash. Local farmer described sparks as trucks flew along the damaged track.

Ben West of Buckholts spoke on Friday about local conditions. He said farmers face setbacks but expect enough income to work plenty of June corn, and that any needed help will be available for harvest.

Sad stories of survivors from Lusitania sinking

Queenstown May 10 1915. A scatter of flotsam marks the Lusitania grave as 149 of 1200 perished. Of the 645 survivors, many are housed in hotels and hospitals. two groups left for Dublin by rail bound for Holy Head, with some injuries so serious more deaths are anticipated.

Commencement Week At Cameron Public School Schedule

The Cameron Public School announces a week of events starting Wednesday May 26 and 27 with the musical department presenting instrumental and vocal entertainments at 8:30 PM under teachers Bonnie Brougher Earle Lankford and Mary Henderson. The 1915 graduating class of forty pupils will hold commencement at the auditorium. Rev J B Witherspoon of the Baptist Theological Seminary Ft Worth will deliver the Bacca laureate sermon Sunday May 30. Hon Tom Connelly of Marlin will give the class address Monday May 31.

Cameron Boys Win State Tennis Championship Over Wichita Falls

Cameron High School defeated Wichita Falls High School 8-6 in a dramatic final to claim the state title. Delbert Childress and Claud Triggs starred, delivering a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, 8-6 victory in a match played at the University of Texas under the Inter scholastic league.

The surrounding country suffers as farmers endure heavy flood damage. T. S. Henderson of Cameron visited the Stotts farm Saturday night. Miss Meadie Cox is ill this week. Perry Stotts and Francis traveled to Cameron on business. Mr. and Mrs. Abb Stewart visited Cameron. A Friday night dance at Lonie G's delighted the young folks. Farm hands replanting the crop prompted Mr. and Mrs. Stotts to serve ice cream and angel food cake Sunday evening.

Cameron Boys Hold Splendid Interscho Track and Debating Years

Cameron students posted strong showings in interscholastic track and debating contests. Lee Sens earned state honors in races and jumps. Childress and Triggs won tennis championships. Debating team reached district prominence and second in the state contest, narrowly trailing Weatherford. Floyd Davis, visiting from Dallas, returned home.

Attempt to Kill President Garza in Mexican Capital

Troops led by General Barona attempted to kill Roque Gonzalez Garza in Mexico City at the Hotel Lascurain. Clashes left 13 dead and multiple wounded as Barona’s forces retreated after fighting Garza loyalists. General Zapata’s forces reportedly dominate south of the capital amid a broader convention dispute.

Six young women win spots in Minitra Frances Willard contest

Six entrants were named by a judge committee for the Minitra contest on Frances Willard temperance work with a $25 prize.
