Robert Lowe 24, Cameron native now Purdue University English professor, poet of notice born 1909 near Cameron, Baylor graduate, published work and anthology honor. R. R. Dabney 60, Santa Fe railway agent at Buckholts, died after insect spray poisoning. he had attempted suicide with a revolver, survived by widow and two daughters. funeral at his Buckholts home with Rogers burial.

Beal Family Mourns Death of Fort Worth Resident H C Beal

H C Beal formerly of Milam county died at his Fort Worth home Saturday night April 29. He will be buried in Colorado City, Texas. Beal was born near Jones Prairie and was a pioneer West cattleman turned banker. Survived by wife and children in Texas, he leaves a brother H D Beal of Big Spring and three sisters in Fort Worth Georgetown and Cameron. His father served as Milam county sheriff in 1841 appointed by Mirabeau B Lamar.

Frank Seidler Dies Suddenly at Home in Cameron

Funeral services for Frank Seidler, pioneer Cameron resident, were being arranged Thursday morning after his death at home around 11 p m from a heart attack. He was about 70 years old. A fuller account will appear in the Herald in a future issue.

Typing Students To Austin For Contest

Miss Pauline Starnes and Roy Baskin Jr traveled to Austin on Thursday for the state typing contest. They won the meet recently held in Waco, with competitors from districts across Texas participating.

Parents Auxiliary to Cameron Municipal Band Forms

The Cameron Parents Auxiliary to the Cameron Municipal Band was organized Monday night at Ada Henderson school. Officers elected are Ss. FE. Brogdon as president Dr W R Newton as vice president and Chas H Pollard as secretary. The group supports the band and plans a May 16 entertainment chaired by F R Dunlap with Dan Tyson and W R Hoover.

Beauty Honors for Little Anita Zidell

The Waco Tribune-Herald held a Baby Show edition during Baby Week from April 80 to May 6 with ten babies shown. Anita Zidell, Cameron, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas Zidell, was chosen as the sixth prettiest among 400 entrants, the only finalist outside Waco.

Rainfall Boosts Milam County Crops This Spring

Rainfall Wednesday night totals about one inch and helps growing crops in Milam county. Planting is timely and farm operations were delayed earlier due to dry spells. The rainfall was general across Texas with no Milam county storm damage reported.

Milam County Men Called for Roosevelt Forest Work

Seventy five men from Milam county form the full quota for national forest employment under the Roosevelt program. Only six have been called so far. recruits aged 18 to 25 will earn 30 dollars monthly for six months, with applicants required to send part of earnings to dependents.

Cameron Commercial Club plans ten goodwill and entertainment trips to county communities. W A Morrison resigns after 20 years as president of the Milam County Board of Education to take a place on the State Board of Education. The Milam County trustees pass resolutions congratulating his appointment and noting his resignations as trustee at large and as chairman.

Cameron Band Wins District Silver Cup

Cameron's Municipal Band directed by Francis Cox won the district meet silver cup and first place for one year bands at Mexia last Saturday. The cup will be engraved and the band earned public plaudits as a large delegation of parents and citizens attended. An Auxiliary of Parents was organized here on Monday night to plan future concert travel.

Roesler Held Here Following Shooting

Hugo Roesler, charged with shooting Buckholts deputy Elimar Horstman last Monday, is held here pending grand jury action. His wife and son, released on bail, face related charges. Horstman wounded in both legs, shot while serving a warrant on Roesler for an assault on neighbor John Tomacek at the Roesler farm south of Pettibone. Mrs. Joe Mohler is reported very ill at her home.

Washington May 3 Farmers learn how new Farm Aid bill aims to raise income. Key provisions include pooling federal cotton for credit to growers in exchange for acreage cuts, the government holding cotton and paying farmers profits later, and a processing tax on major crops to boost farmers income as outlined by officials.

The body of Mrs. F. G. Yoe 5% died at her daughter’s home in Houston Saturday April 29 at 3 00. The funeral was Sunday 3 30 p m at Little River Baptist church Cameron with Rev J E Buttrl pastor. Interment at Little River cemetery. She was born Louise Blassenz and married Fred G. Yoe in 1898. She lived in Clarkson before moving to Cameron in 1916.

Fisher Heads Milam County Education Board

Cameron schools superintendent T A Fisher was elected president of the Milam County Board of Education at a week’s meeting. He succeeds W A Morrison, named to the State Board of Education. Appeal Taken In Clarence Booker Case At Austin

Clarence Booker appeal filed after a re hearing motion was overruled. Booker's attorneys prepare for a appeal to the Court of Criminal Appeals regarding his conviction for the murder of Andy Smith in Cameron last December with the death sentence. The timing of the hearing remains uncertain for the current court term.
