Buckholts Marine Lt Edwin Kuzel Killed in Action on Iwo Jima

Edwin Kuzel of Buckholts Texas a United States Marine was killed in action on Iwo Jima as of March 11 1945, his parents Mr and Mrs W E Kuzel were notified by telegram from General Vandergrift. Kuzel born June 10 1924 would have turned 21 and had served about 13 months training in San Diego.

Marine Sgt. Howard Stalleup Killed on Iwo Jima

San Gabriel native Sgt. Howard K. Stalleup of the U S Marine Corps was killed in action on Iwo Jima on February 24. He was 20, the only child of Mr and Mrs Frank Stalleup, and a grandson of Kirk Lane. He had served in the Pacific and fought in earlier campaigns. The family expects further details to follow.

Milam County Bonds Drive For Seventh War Loan

Milam county's E Bond quota in the Seventh War Loan is 360000 dollars with a national total of seven billion. Sixty percent of the total is allotted to individuals. Missing In Action Pfe. Marvin J. Wentreek of Davilla

A telegram from the War Department announced Private Marvin J. Wentreek 23, of Davilla and former Cameron resident, is missing in action in Germany since February 7 after 27 months in service. His father Ed C. Wentreek, a World War I veteran in ill health, and mother live in Davilla. Another son, Pvt. FE. T. Wentreek, is at Camp Fannin. The family lived in Cameron about five months before moving to Davilla.
