Cameron wins total with 191 points in Class A literary and athletic events, Rockdale second with 185 points. Gause tops Class B with 42 literary points and 0 athletic. Yarrellton leads rural with 55 literary and 25 athletic points. Ada Henderson leads rural with 120 literary and 15 athletic points. Rockdale 2nd in rural with 50 literary and 30 athletic. Three other schools share minor points as the meet spans literary and athletic events.

Sykes Fox Buried in Salem Cemetery

The body of Sykes S. Fox 53 died Sunday in a Houston sanitarium was moved to Cameron on Tuesday and taken to the First Baptist church for funeral services by Rev. N. D. Timmerman. Interment followed in Salem cemetery beside his parents. Survived by his wife a son Glenn and a daughter Marian Fox two sisters and two brothers. Pallbearers were named, under Coleman-Eplen undertakers.

Banks Set Daily 3 P M Close From April to Fall

Cameron Banks will close each day at 3 P M from April 1 through the summer, with the 3 P M closing continuing until fall. Banks will reopen after the summer and resume regular hours, and customers are urged to adjust plans accordingly. E A Camp of Rockdale visited Cameron on Monday.

Mrs Mary Walker 9 Buried in Cameron

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary W. Walker wife of W J Walker were held in Cameron at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at her brother M G Cox's home. Rev B O Herring of Waco and Rev N D Timmerman officiated. Interment followed at Oak Hill cemetery. She was born in Clayton.

Jackson Pleads Guilty in Thorndale Killing Case

D. M. Jackson, tried three times for the killing of Mrs Melde in Thorndale, entered a guilty plea before Judge Graham Gillis and received a year suspended sentence. Attorney E. A. Camp represented Jackson as his case resumed after prior reversals. Mrs Melde died from wounds inflicted during the beating.

First Farm Loan Checks Delivered in Milam County

The first checks for government crop production loans are being delivered to Milam county farmers. Over 25 applications have already been made, with applications to be received by the Agriculture secretary through April 30, 1958.

Three Day Horticulture Short Course Set At A M College

County Agent Geo Banzhaf reports a three day horticulture short course at Texas A and M College from March 29 to 31. Topics include home orchard setup pest and disease control pecan propagation and native pecan work and year round vegetable growing with emphasis on soils and fertilizers. Registration is 1.00 with meals available nearby. Milam county residents advised to consult the county agent.

Legislative developments indicate Milam County will shift from the Sixth to the Eleventh Congressional District aligning with McLennan and Bell counties. Representative Emory B. Camp pushes to keep Milam in the Sixth with Luther A. Johnson, but Senate and House bills place Milam in the Eleventh with H. Cross of Waco as congressman.

Clarence Booker charged with the December 23 1932 murder of Andy Smith has not been set for trial. George Williams charged with February 20 1933 murders of Lena and Louis Jones also not set. Formula for Cut Worm Control and Pest Remedies

A historical notice describes a poison bran mash formula to control cut worms and grasshoppers. It instructs mixing white arsenic with bran and adding molasses lemon juice rind water to form a moist paste. The paste is placed at the base of plants to deter pests in gardens and fields.
