Kemp Seeks Re election as Milam County Judge

Judge Jeff T. Kemp of Milam County seeks re election to the county judge's office for another term in the Democratic Primary on July 23 1932. He has long served as county judge and previously as county clerk and points to a fiscally prudent administration keeping expenses within bounds while meeting all obligations. He is known across the county and state for civic involvement including pensions for Confederate veterans and widows and pledges faithful and efficient service if re elected.

Fifth Annual District Baptist Session Concludes With New Officers

The Fifth Annual Session of the District Sunday School and B T S Convention met March 1 and 2 at the Baptist church. Rev A C Miller Belton and L C Gayle Cameron presided with leaders from Dallas Temple and Dallas B S Department. New officers elected include Dr R T Wilson Temple president and H P Black Bryan vice president. A barbecue supper was served Tuesday evening by the M S ladies.

Martin Porter Dies at Home Near Goree Texas

The death of Martin Porter occurred Wednesday February 24 at his Goree Texas home. Porter was reared in Cameron, son of the late R S and Mrs Porter, married to Carrie Hefley, with two children from his first marriage. He was a traveling salesman, recently ill, living on his Goree farm at passing. He is survived by his wife, two children, a brother Buford Porter in the East, and Cameron relatives. Burial was in a cemetery near Goree.

Joseph Delivers Russia Address at Waco Forum

J C Joseph city secretary treasurer of Cameron and Russian affairs student spoke on Russia before The Forum in Waco last Thursday. The Jewish sponsored event featured prominent speakers and his exhaustive history of the Russian Empire under the Czars and Bolsheviks drew high praise from the audience.

Yoe High Students Present Washington Birthday Dream Play

At the Lions Club noon program Supt T A Fisher chaired with Miss Jolly Blanche Pitts assisting. Eight Yoe high boys performed a dream play for the Bi Centenary birthday of George Washington. Mr Lowery whistled ballads with Mrs Richter as guest. The club sponsors a play titled Home Cured directed by Dorothy Blaylock on March 21 at Yoe high school auditorium to aid club projects.

Fikes Seeks Re election as Milam County Treasurer

L B Fikes, Milam County Treasurer, runs for re election in the Democratic primary on July 23 1932. He highlights a record of faithful service in managing county funds and keeping accurate records while pledging to continue serving Milam County and talking to voters across the county.

Checker Exhibit by Basil Case Draws Large Crowd

Basil Case a 22 year old Chicago checker expert wowed Milam County at the courthouse Tuesday night. He played 30 players at once non blindfolded and drew five games led by Basil Thompson of Sharpe among others. In a five at once blindfolded session Case lost once to Basil Thompson and defeated three others. Basil Thompson of Sharpe won all honors with Case, while a Milam County organization plans future events inviting all players.

National Week for Business Women proclaimed

Governor Ross Sterling proclaims March 6 to 12 as National Week for business women. Mrs. Lottie S. Bigbee, president of Cameron Business and Professional Women's Club, announces activities for the Cameron observance. The proclamation notes the growing role of women in business and professional life and references the national Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Milam County Secures Preferential Settlement After Bank Failure

Milam County receives 74 512.50 in bonds from Cameron State Bank failures as partial deposits payment. Bank commissioner offers to cover 108 000 in total, with county priority ensuring full recovery. remaining 34 000 funds in excess of bond are protected by settlement terms.

Tom H. Tuttle Achieves USC Philosophy Success

Cameron readers learn of Tom H. Tuttle son of Mea and Fanne Tuttle Cameron student at University of Southern California School of Philosophy Los Angeles. He passed all examinations for his degree and will complete his thesis soon earning the title Dr Tuttle in June. He has not yet accepted a fall position. He notes California winters cooler than usual in Los Angeles.

Milam County Tax Payers League Proposed

Milam County officials announced a Tax Payers League to join the state organization formed in Waco. A meeting is set for Monday March 7 at 2 p m in the District Court Room with addresses by Prof. John Strauss and W H Miner of Waco. Taxpayers are urged to attend to hear plans for representation in tax assessment and collection.
