Milam County Court Accepts Banking Commissioner Offer

Milam County Texas on February 29 1932 considered the Banking Commissioner’s written proposition regarding funds on deposit in Cameron State Bank at failure. The court noted an indebtedness of about 108000 to the county for state county and school funds and that the Commissioner would credit the suit claim for collateral securities to secure the bank’s debt. The plan would allow regular dividends on the 108000 or true amount due until total repayment equals the county’s claim. The court acted to proceed with the offer.

Applications Ready For Federal Crop Loans In Milam County

Farmers across Milam County can apply for Reconstruction Finance Corporation loans through Cameron Rockdale Buckholts and Gause outlets. E. E. Brown reports first completed applications in district and Texas with supplies arriving to serve qualified borrowers promptly. Loans average two to three dollars per acre, general purposes one dollar per acre, with separate sums for feed weed fertilizer and proof receipts as required.

Funeral for Henry E Bauknight who died March 2 in San Antonio was held at 1 30 PM Friday in Rockdale Odd Fellows cemetery. Rev W A Craven led the service. He was born October 20 1860 in South Carolina and lived in Cameron Goree Fort Worth and Dallas with his wife Telulah Dumbar prior to his death.

Grover Cleveland Walters died after a several week illness on March 8 at 2 35 PM in Cameron Texas He was born May 25 1885 in Trickham Coleman County He married Vada Tucker Little April 1 1925 and had one son Hubert He worked as manager of Milam County Lumber Company and joined the First Christian church in Cameron Funeral services were led by Rev Joel B Hardigree at the family home Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery Survived by widow son and several step and former spouses Children from a prior marriage include G C Walters Jr Ernest Walters Billie Moore and Taylor Moore Pallbearers from the Odd Fellows Lodge included Jeff Kemp J L Slaughter I L Adams Roy Law Joe Bass and C C Smith Floral offerings covered the grave Coleman and Eplen handled burial duties

Mrs. Jack Cammer remains a patient at Cameron hospital this week with treatment ongoing and condition currently stable as doctors monitor recovery.

SLAIN ROBERT KIRK FOLLOWED BY RELOADING SHOOTER

Robert Kirk, 29, was shot to death at 12:45 a.m. while walking with his brother Wiley near Green Brothers store. Weaver Vaughn fled toward Citizens National Bank after firing five shots from a 38 caliber revolver. Wiley seized a 38 automatic from his brother and pursued Vaughn toward Gulf Station, exchanging no shots as bystanders watched. Vaughn fired four times at a light pole and then fled west, with Kirk firing back but missing.
