Willard Hopkins Nabours 79 dies in Oklahoma City where he was a retired accountant. Graveside services at 9 30 a m Thursday at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev Anthony Thibodeaux officiating. He was born August 13 1887 in Salem Milam County. He is survived by wife Molly Nabours Don Nabours Nadine Duke Homer Nabours Ethel Massengale C M Davis two grandchildren two great grandchildren. Indians Eliminate Click-Click on Santa Fe Rail Line

A crew of over 100 including a Navajo chief works on a 50 mile Cameron to Somerville stretch to replace 112 pound rail with 119 pound steel. Rails are welded in 1440 foot lengths to create continuous track and reduce joint noise. The project costs exceed 150000 dollars and lasts about six weeks per cycle with workers living in Santa Fe cars.

Cameron ISD approves library tables for Yee High School

The Cameron Independent School Board, chaired by Coleman Duncum, authorized spending 2100 for new Yee High School library tables and chairs. Shelving will be added, and exterior renovation bids were tabled. The board discussed band hall air conditioning and considered costs for a 50 by 89 foot metal structure. Resignations of two teachers were accepted.

Richard Caldwell 76 dies in Cameron nursing home

Richard Oliver Caldwell 76 died Monday afternoon in a Cameron nursing home. He had lived in Cameron 15 years. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 4 30 p.m. in Green's Funeral Home chapel with Rev. James Lafferty officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Survivors include daughter Cleo Kirk of Dallas two grandsons Don Johnson of Dallas Jess Thomas Kirk of Houston and granddaughter Linda Kirk of Dallas.

Bible Lost in Mail at Cameron Post Office

A family Bible packed for mailing was lost by Mrs. Lula Wilkinson at the Cameron Post Office this week. The Bible contains family records and was to be sent to her sister-in-law. Mrs. Wilkinson of 411 North Washington offers a reward to the finder.

450 pound black bear sighted in Burleson Falls Milam Counties

Reports of a black bear wandering areas in Burleson Falls Milam and nearby counties were substantiated after plaster casts of tracks near Lyons indicated a 450 pound animal. Texas Parks & Wildlife and local wardens note sightings along the Brazos River and Falls County with caution about potential danger if cornered.

City Council Approves 40 Percent Tax Base Increase

Colts Tie for First with 9-0 Shutout of Yankees

Seven Weekend Accidents Reported on Milam Highways

Cameron highway patrols logged seven Milam County crashes over the weekend as summer traffic rose. Lt. Richard Wayne Jenkins, 19, of Fort Hood, suffered multiple injuries after a motorcycle collided with a 1950 Chevrolet driven by Frank Joe Stalmach of Rogers on SH 36 Buckholts. Stalmach faced charges for an unsafe left turn. Juanita Stone and passenger in Guy Henson’s car were treated for injuries after a late Saturday collision with a 1959 Ford. Henson was charged for an unsafe left turn.
