Fire destroys home of Sharp Lilac couple
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Stephens in Lilac burned Thursday morning July 23 after starting around 9 30. The couple weren’t home. Stephens and neighbors saved nothing. The property belonged to Jim Anderson. They will live with Stephens parents for the time being.

Milam County 4-H Girls Report Clothing and Garden Achievements
Milam County 4-H Club girls report a $21.88 average clothing expense per girl from records of 78 participants. They made 720 garments and repaired 307 items. 56 dresses styled in a July encampment dress contest. The group remodeled 108 closets and built 16 new ones, started orchard plots, planted 15 750 tomato plants, canned 3 473 quarts, and stored 3 374 pounds of vegetables. Mr and Mrs Fred Reno are on extended vacation.

Clifford Thompson Becomes Licensed City Land Surveyor
Clifford Thompson is now a licensed land surveyor in Cameron succeeding Henderson Walker who moves to Waco. Thompson trained two years in engineering at A and M College and has broad math skills. He has county survey experience and has worked with Walker, gaining practical knowledge from a top state surveyor.
