Newton Leads Field In State Senate Poll

Dr W R Newton commands a lead of over five thousand votes in the 13th district race for State Senator as returns from four counties show him ahead of Hert Ford. Doss Hardin of Limestone runs close to Ford, with Ford expected to enter the August runoff despite no formal announcement in Milam county. The race sets Newton up for the largest local county victory in Crinity County history.
