State Continues Search For Spanish Shipwrecks
Port Mansfield hosts the ongoing underwater survey of 16th century Spanish wrecks off Padre Island in a multiagency effort led by Carl Clausen and Dr. Fred Wendorf. The season includes magnetometer surveys and 30 days of excavation to recover artifacts for preservation and study.
