Legion Celebration Is Big Success on July Fourth
The American Legion July Fourth festivities drew eight to ten thousand people to Cameron City Park for band music dancing and a patriotic address by Luther Johnson of Corsicana. A noon barbecue fed many though some left unfed. fireworks that night dazzled attendees as State Senator R. L. Poage spoke. Cooperation among civic groups aided the popular event.

Onions Yield 2385 Pounds From Quarter Acre
E L Kahler of Mondrik Brothers Store in Cameron reports a strong onion crop from Buckholts area farm. One quarter acre produced 2385 pounds of crystal wax onions. He urges fall planting for February and March markets and plans to expand to about five acres with carload shipments next year.

Thomas L. Randolph, 66, longtime Milam County resident and Baptist church member, was found dead in City Park on Thursday morning July 9 1931. Death attributed to heart attack after years of illness. Funeral arrangements await arrival of a daughter. survived by widow and several daughters.

Grand Master of Odd Fellows Visits Cameron Lodge
F M Compton, Grand Master of the Texas Odd Fellows, visited the Cameron lodge after a first degree exemplification. Attendees included Pat Garrett and J M Marshall, with Mrs Garrett and daughter Virginia Mary reading. Hendersons Leave Cameron for Corpus Christi Home

Gyllenbands Plan Vacation to Houston and Tivola
Dr and Mrs C F Gyllenband will leave Cameron Friday for Houston to spend a few days then travel to Tivola to visit his mother for several days. They expect to return from their vacation about July 18. Dr Gyllenband is a chiropractor with offices in the B and B Studio building.

Joiner Well Om Foster Tract Shows Oil and Gas
The Joiner Petroleum Company Foster No. 1 on the A. G. Perry survey in Milam county showed oil and gas from 2183 to 2196 feet. The drill topped the Pecan Gap chalk at 3217 feet, about 300 feet high for the area, and cored sand from 8461 to 3472 feet with a strong gas indication. A Garill stem test will be made. The well lies about one mile north of Branchville and will drill to over 5000 feet.

Lee and Tommy Howell, now in New York with the Chas. Boulenger Orchestra for the Columbia network, have recently recorded for Victor. Sons of a musical family, they broadcast from the Central Hotel in New York on Wednesday Friday and Saturday nights at 11 p.m. CST, with their orchestra heard over Columbia at 11 a.m. for 50 minutes.

Elm Creek Bridge Trestle Got More Funding
The State Highway Commission on June 24 increased the Elm Creek trestle appropriation to 21424 dollars after Milam County secured a right of way. The Milam County Commissioners Court completed the required land acquisition to trigger the additional funding.
