Early Days In Cameron Recalled By Sam Hefley
Sam Hefley, an early Cameron settler, recalls the town’s 1880s growth and the Santa Fe depot fire of 1881. He arrived May 10 1879 after riding from Rockdale, with his family camping near Little River ferry. The 1880 Santa Fe line created Cameron’s rail link and the wooden depots were replaced by a stone and tile building about 27 years ago.

Tragedy near city park as Tracy family wrecked at intersection
Mrs Pat Tracy suffered a grave hip fracture and brain concussion when her car collided with another vehicle at a busy intersection near city park. Her husband was severely cut while Tracy and coach escaped unharmed. The other car was driven by a Buckholts youth named Hellas. several passengers were with him but none injured.

Damage Suit Won By Casey Against Santa Fe Railway
Settlement in the sum of about 86000 was made out of court after Bobby Casey 14 gravely injured in a May 1954 car wreck on Santa Fe tracks near Cameron. Joe Casey father of Bobby accepted the railroad offer. Others injured were Billy Cooper and Charles Roy Law. The case was to be tried in District Court.
