Cameron Truck Line Hearing Planned in Cameron

Hearing on the proposed Temple to Bellville and Waco to LaGrange truck routes may be held in Cameron with E C Cole of Southern Pacific noting the Railroad Commission oversees the permit. A Cameron petition asks for the meeting here, possibly two days, with Terrell and other officials expected.

Railroads central to Texas economy and Cameron hearing

Our Town urges recognition of railroad value to American industry and tax base. It notes Milam County rail taxes of 32 208 18 in 1934 and argues for sustaining haulage rights while praising Senator Poags for voting against a federal child labor amendment. Track Meet Ten Held Here in March The Invitation Event

The annual invitation track meet will be held here on March 9 with preliminaries in the forenoon and finals at night. Sixteen teams entered last year and are expected to return. Three boys who competed last year placed in the state meet, including Horace Taylor of Luling who won the 140 yard dash, Ferguson of New Salem who won the state shot put, and Elms of McGregor who placed third in the state 100 yard dash.

Masons To Meet In Called Session

The Masters Degree will be conferred Wednesday evening in San Andes. The meeting is called by Worshipful Master A. Pow A. M. The session aims to confirm the desires and the lodge wall meet at 7 30 p.m. All Master Masons are requested to attend.

Court House History Unfolds in Vivid Old Days Drama

Milam county's 1890 court house is lauded for its architecture and will be restored to its original cream limestone color. Patman Bonus Plan Favored By Vets in Milam County

Milam County veterans backed the Patman plan at a Monday night county meeting. A resolution supporting Patman and opposing the Legion proposal was approved, then sent to Senators Connally and Sheppard, Congressman Cross, and Congressman Patman. Local post commander Grady Little led the session.

Film Studio Here February 9 Exhibition At Local Theatre

Inscription on Rock Near Sharpe Hints at Steven F. Austin Link

A lime crusted flint boulder found near Sharpe in 1980 bears the inscription S F A 181. The markings trigger debate over whether they relate to Steven F. Austin an early Texas figure. The rock was found on the Dittmar farm in 1933 and may reflect local Native American sites near Alligator Creek.
