A nationwide party on January 30 for the President's Birthday raises funds to fight infantile paralysis. About 5,000,000 people are expected across 5,600 communities. Seventy percent stays local for equipment and care, thirty percent goes to the Warm Springs Foundation. Milam County will host three balls, in Burlington and Cameron, with venues at the Legion Hall and National Hall.
Texas Power and Light Company expands rural service ten years after starting rural extension. Minerva, seven miles south of Cameron, now has 24 customers as crews completed the line amid sleet and snow. The firm operates a large sub station near Minerva to support high lines toward Taylor and Austin from its Trinidad plant.

J L Browning 80 native of Mississippi and Cameron resident since moving to Texas. Died at his son Robert Browning’s Cameron home January 16 1936 after long illness. Funeral held at First Methodist Church with ministers J Coy Williams and J Love paying tribute to a pioneer.
The city schedules a February 11 vote on bonds for a vocational education building and gymnasium. Officials say taxes will rise modestly from a property value increase about 350 000 dollars, yielding 2400 dollars a year plus interest. If approved, valuations will rise to cover annual bond payments.
Roll Call Services at the Presbyterian church are postponed to February 16 as announced by Rev. O C Acrey. The annual event affects local church activities. Lions Club president Charley Brady says the January 28 luncheon is moved to January 29 with keynote remarks by Gov Nate J Brown of Port Arthur.
