Final Rites For Joe Hibner In Cameron Friday

Funeral services for Joe Hibner will be at 9 a.m. Friday January 22 at St Monica's Church Cameron with Rev George J Duda officiating. Burial in St Monica's Cemetery. Hibner born August 15 1886 in Czechoslovakia died January 20 at his home 418 S Karnes. Survived by widow four daughters one brother eight grandchildren. Rosary was recited at the Funeral Chapel Wednesday night with Knights of Columbus in charge. Knights of Columbus to supervise pallbearers.

Contested Phone Cables Project Underway in Cameron

Southwestern Bell is laying new cables to relieve congestion in the North East Cameron sections including Chandler Green Country Club and Burns. The project rewires the County Court House, removes poles along First Street to Central, and uses two construction crews plus two cable-splicing teams. Completion is expected this Spring.

Milam County 1953 Traffic Report Highlights Three Fatalities

Cameron patrolmen John Blansit and Otis Hilderbrand released the 1953 Milam County traffic report. It shows three fatal accidents and 41 injuries among 26 personal injury cases and 58 property damage incidents, with estimated property damage of about 62 299 dollars. The year 1952 saw ten highway deaths. 1954 begins with the death of a resident on January 2.

Farmers Oppose Flexible Support Price at Waco Hearing

About 72 Texas farmers and ranchers told the House Agriculture Committee in Waco Hall they oppose the flexible support price system. They urged 90 to 100 percent parity, demand easier credit rules, larger cotton allotments, and a Soil Conservation Service reorganization. The crowd included West Texas Farmers Union members and representatives from Central, East, and South Texas.

Jamie L Clark of San Gabriel dies at 66

Jamie L. Clark 66 of San Gabriel died Monday in a Taylor hospital after a heart attack. Funeral services were held at the Christian church in San Gabriel with Rev. C. E. Baker officiating. Burial was in Lochlin cemetery. Clark, known as the father of the San Gabriel School, had been a mail carrier since 1912 and led local Red Cross, school trust, and American Legion activities. Survived by adopted son Nathan Clark, four sisters, and one brother.
