Red Cross to Offer First Aid Instructor Course
A First Aid Instructor's Course will start January 19 for a full week. Chas M Hicks county superintendent announces C K Garner of the American Red Cross will conduct the 15 hour program to train instructors to teach the regular course to school bus drivers across the county. Garner served with the Fifth U S Army in the MTO theatre and received the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service plaque.

Newsprint Jump To 220 Per Ton Crisis For Small Publishers
Newsprint rose to 220 per ton with prices jumping from about 12 cents per pound. The Herald reports recent invoices at 10.50 and 29 by 34 inch sheets from Angleton for The Daily. Angleton publishers note standard 32 by 44 inch sheets from Houston cost 12 cents. flat sheets for weeklies are scarce and near all time highs. In 1920 such paper sold for 15 cents per pound.
