Martha Berry School Receives Ford Foundation Support

Henry Ford announced plans to give 109 million to education, noting a five year start of a one million dollar gift to the Martha Berry School in Mount Berry Georgia. Gulf Refining Buys Posey Home Site for New Station

The Gulf Refining Company purchased the Mrs. L. H. Posey home east of the First Baptist church for 10000 dollars and will build a modern service station. The Posey residence is being wrecked to clear the site while Gulf begins major Cameron construction. A new Posey home and family residence is also underway nearby.

Rosebud Begins Natural Gas Service From Milam Wells

Rosebud is now served with gas from Milam Oil & Gas wells known as the Whitefield field three miles south of town. Three wells, drilled early 1928 by J. C. and J. A. White on W. B. White land, produce 500,000 to 1,000,000 cubic feet daily each. Lone Star Gas Co. holds the Rosebud supply franchise with minimum 10 cent price. Two more wells are being drilled as Rosebud uses up to 1,000,000 cubic feet daily. Service began February 12.

Mrs S D Hanna Buried in Oak Hill Cemetery

Funeral services for Mrs. S S D Hanna were held at her daughter's home with Rev. Joel Hardigree officiating. Born March 24, 1855 in Christian County Kentucky, she moved to Texas in 1883, lived in Temple and Cameron, and spent final years with her daughter Mrs. Guy Slocomb. Survived by two children Henry Hanna and Mrs. Guy Slocomb. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery with pallbearers J D Eplen, W D Favor, Raymond Beard, Roy Law, B Slocomb, Jim Adams.

Southern Cotton Farmers Fear 1929 Calamity Looms

World Court topic discussed by Cameron History Club

Cameron History Club members invited guests to a Tuesday meeting where Hon. W G Gillis spoke on the World Court of Justice. He traced its formation and critiqued U S reluctance to fully join. Mary Lake Henderson reported on a session in Europe. Members urged letters to representatives and Texas senators. Guests enjoyed a social hour and refreshments at Mrs Ben Atkinson home.
