Good Citizen Awards Honor Local D AR Recipients
Miss Barbara Jo Young daughter of Mr and Mrs Dick Young wins the D A R Good Citizen Award from the Sarah McCalla chapter Milam County and Miss Nola Albrecht Rockdale senior will receive a similar award. The announcement came at a chapter meeting hosted by Mrs W G Gillis with co host Mrs Alice McGhee. Barbara Young editor of the Yee-haw Chant and longtime Yee High School Chorus pianist, has served on student council and state conventions, and belongs to the Junior Historian group and school bands. Albrecht is a senior honor student who writes for the Yee High School yearbook and newspaper, is on the staff, joined student council, and earned the outstanding English award in 1956. The two winners will receive good citizen pins in spring. Newly elected DAR officers are Mrs J C Freeman regent and Mrs Henry Hefley vice regent. The chapter voted to send 10 to the state DAR house for Mrs B J Baskin and Mrs Aetna Smith will attend the state meeting in Mineral Wells March 12 with alternates D E Curry and T H Coulter.

Cameron rainfall slowed over the weekend with 96 inches recorded by the Water Department official Alvin Hefft. Nearby Rockdale logged 0.82 inches for Monday and Rosebud 1.91 inches for Monday, with three day totals around 1.16 inches. Hefft also filed the weekly high and low temperatures for the city ending 6 p.m. Tuesday, noting a low of 72 degrees on Tuesday.

Steady Market In Cattle Trade At Cameron Auction
Cameron Livestock Auction saw 114 sellers offering 378 head on Thursday February 1 with 46 buyers including 11 packers. Butcher calves 15 to 19.25, butchers 14.75 to 18, fat cows 10.50 to 12, canner cutters 7.8 to 10, stocker steers 13 to 17.50, bulls 12 to 14. Cows and calves 72.50 to 80 for plain types, 115 to 119 for good grades. Market steady across packer-type cattle while stocker demand remains strong and prices show gains over last week.
