Footstool and hull relic from Lake Erie battleship raised in 1913
Cameron Texas January 25 1914 excerpt from Cameron Herald recalls a gift from Louis Sedelmeyer of Erie. A footstool and an inlaid paper made from planks of the sunken battleship raised by the U.S. government in 1913 were placed at a spot on Erie shores. The note links to the 1812 war and Commodore Oliver H. Perry’s exploits with the Niagara and other ships. A niece of a participant is mentioned.
