Valon Fogle Presented 25 Year Pin By SW Bell

Valon Fogle marked twenty five years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and received a 25 year pin from Milton Fuqua wire chief. He has spent most of his career in Cameron and helped grow Cameron’s telephone system from under 900 to over 2100 phones. Fogle served in WWII rising to sergeant in the 97th Signal Company Battalion. The Fogles, including Mrs Fogle, were honored at a dinner at Salado Stage Coach Inn.

Mrs Leo Fuchs Wins All Honors At Civic Garden Show

Mrs Leo Fuchs swept the Civic Garden Club show with top honors in both the Arrangement and Horticulture divisions. Ribbons honored her pink three shade dining-table display, a large wicker Hen and Chickens basket, and multiple entries across corsages mantels coffee tables and other categories. Other winners include Mrs G A McDermott Mrs Alvin Dusek Mrs Frank Schiller and Mrs Edwin Adams with numerous blue red yellow and white ribbons across entries in outside doors corsages mantels weathered wood evergreen and foliage plant classes.

Milam County Health Units weekly report lists two paralytic poliomyelitis cases in Buckholts area, Dennis 3 and Michael 21 months, sons of Elvy James. Hays Parents Celebrate Their 68th Anniversary

Mr and Mrs L L Hays of Goldthwaite marked their 68th wedding anniversary at home this weekend They are both about 96 years old and still live on the farm they moved to in 1889 Only seven children were born to the couple and five sons and two daughters overall attended the quiet celebration In attendance were Mr and Mrs Hays of Cameron J M Hays and family of Brookshire and their daughter Mrs Byler of Brownswood

Infant Mary Sue Templin Dies of Pneumonia in Cameron

The six month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Albert Templin died suddenly of pneumonia December 15 at her grandmother Mrs Norma Halpain s home in Cameron. Funeral services were held December 16 at Greens Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Cato Sheerer officiating. Milam County ASC announces approval of the 1955 Conservation Program with ten practices. Bob Abel resigns from C of C post to take Atlanta Chamber job

Robert Abel presented a resignation letter to Lewis Mc Kee, president of the local Chamber of Commerce, effective January 1, 1955, to become manager of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. He has served here 18 months and the board vows a strong recommendation letter. A search for a new manager will be deferred until year’s start.

Winter Grazing and Feed Costs Forecast for 1955 Texas

Agricultural economist John G. McHaney predicts similar overall feed costs in 1955 for Texas farmers with high protein feeds holding steady and cottonseed meal rising. Hay shipments will continue through drought, national hay supplies are up but Southwest stocks are tight. corn prices likely rise if the 1954 crop fails to meet demand. Sorghum grain harvest is large. prices unlikely to improve with normal 1955 season. Oats and barley supplies are at record highs with prices expected below corn.

Nativity Scene To Be Presented By Baptist Church

The First Baptist church announces an outdoor Nativity Scene from Dec 20 to Dec 28 directed by Mary and Lois Randolph. J W Sykes 82 longtime Milam County resident died at home Monday December 20 after a prolonged illness. Born July 28 1872 in Alabama he lived in Milam County nearly 40 years. Funeral Rites Set for Milam County Resident

Robert Lee Buddy Kirk, 60, died Sunday afternoon in a Cameron hospital. A lifelong Milam County resident from Liberty Community, he will have funeral services at Liberty Community Church officiated by Reverend Jack Berry of Milano Methodist Church. Funeral for Lee Gregory Former Milam County Resident

The funeral for Lee Gregory, a former Milam County resident who died in Houston, was held in Cleveland Texas. He is survived by his widow Stella Gregory of Houston, a son Kenneth of Austin, a daughter Mrs. George Pendleton of California, two grandchildren, three brothers Gene, Raymond and Rigsby of San Antonio, two sisters Mrs. Lucile Przybysz of San Antonio and Mrs. Frank Rogers of Rosebud. Interment was in Morgan Cemetery in Cleveland. Mr and Mrs F J Rogers attended the funeral.
