The Cameron Commercial Club plans to invite pecan tree owners in Milam County to gather and discuss forming a pecan growers association. The secretary will contact owners to gauge interest, with possible club assistance if organized. The move, approved at the Monday night session, seeks broad cooperation to develop a key local industry.
The Our Town Commercial Club faced a quorum shortfall at its regular meeting and may need another semi annual session. Officials urge full participation to foster an active agenda including farming cooperation, diversified crops, grape studies, hog restocking, and pecan industry support while reflecting on the year 1926 and fostering optimism for better days ahead.
Mrs Monty Montgomery and Betty Jane Montgomery left Wednesday for their home in Clovis New Mexico after a six weeks visit with Mrs Meta McCown and family.

FS Lesovsky hosted the annual venison supper for the Commercial Club at the Newport Cafe. Attendees included Paul Webb J E Jackson J B White Judge Kemp F B Cable J W Coleman Ad D Dobbins Rev J P Love and others. The 8 point buck was hunted in Pearsall and served to members with talks on grape industry and hunting prospects for next year.
A pecan tree on T S Henderson’s Lee County farm produced a 1000 pound crop this year. Tenants report the native tree covers about an eighth of an acre and, at 15 cents a pound, the crop would bring about 150 dollars. Henderson promotes pecan growing and plans to form a pecan raisers association.
No arrests yet as burglars who hit Rockdale Motor Car Company stole tools and an acetylene torch then tried to blow open the Milano State Bank vault. The gunmen entered by door lock, left when the torch lacked fuel, abandoning the car two miles from Milano. A stranger seen at the Rockdale plant is being sought by officers.
Cameron Lions host Santa Claus on Friday night December 24 with a large cedar Christmas tree north of the courthouse lawn. The tree will hold gifts for club members and city children and stay up through Christmas. Texas Power and Light Company decorates the scene as music by the Cameron Junior Band and mass singing accompany carols led by church choirs.

Terral W. Aycock seventy native Texan and Cameron Milam County pioneer died December 21 1926 at his Dallas daughter’s home from heart failure after years of declining health. He was born February 26 1856 in Burleson County son of Bryant F and Sarah Winston Aycock and educated at Georgetown University. Survived by six children and two grandchildren. funeral held at his Cameron residence with burial at Winston family cemetery on Little River. full life account to appear in next issue.
Hundreds of shoppers crowd Cameron stores for gifts as merchants report brisk business and a strong Christmas season. The Lions Club has set up a large community tree while churches plan special services and college students mingle on the streets amid a week of social events including a silver tea at the country club featuring the Blue Bird Choral Club directed by Miss Eloise Rogers. Declines in cotton prices have trimmed some business but overall crop sales enable people to clear debts and still enjoy Christmas cheer.
The Palace of Sweets reopened last week with music and songs as Mr. Sharpe welcomed hundreds of friends. The rebuilt venue, destroyed November 24 by fire, was decorated and improved with the United Cigar Store Company line now offered. Guy Draper’s orchestra from Waco played and Eloise Rogers sang, as guests enjoyed fruit punch and souvenirs.
