Our Town argues for reduced cotton acreage in 1927 to avert price collapse after an eight hundred thousand bale overhang. The piece urges farmers to cut sowing by at least a quarter and diversify with hogs, poultry, cattle, and home produce, stressing balanced production and self reliance.
The Commercial club has purchased a car of hogs to be distributed among the farmers of the county. This good move comes at an opportune time and aims to encourage farmers to adopt more livestock, improving the county’s prospects.

The Sou' Texas Wolf Hunters Association prepares a three day field meet at Kenedy Texas on January 6 and 7. The Fourth Annual event draws dogs from across Texas with an expected 200 entries. Organizer Dick Delevan and Dr H E Wright anticipate strong competition and note lost dogs are a common issue during wolf treks. The Pleas Butler ranch will host the meet with a tented city and horse strings from Geo Tips.

H. P. Black of Valley Mills Texas has accepted the role of educational director at the Baptist church here and will begin work Sunday. He previously taught in Valley Mills public schools and directed church music, and will lead music and youth activities in the church’s enlarged 1927 program.
Former Cameron city marshal Vince Lucas has been hired by the Calvert city commission as city marshal. Lucas served two years as Cameron city marshal and was defeated in re election bids. The Calvert government has retained his services and he has begun duties.

Visitors are expected to flood Kenedy for the hunt as the town, famed in South Texas, stages a major meet. Hunters must enter dogs by midnight the day before the event and may bring bedding and motor to Kenedy. For details contact KR. C. Delevan or K. M. Hensley in San Antonio.
A car load of broad sows bought by the Cameron commercial club will be distributed to local farmers. The finance committee Robert McLane Oxsheer Smith and Jr W Hefley arranged payment through Citizens National Bank. Mr and Mrs Joe N Luce of Miles Texas hosted Sunday guests including Mr and Mrs Delose Luce, Mr and Mrs John Delahunty of San Angelo, Mr and Mrs John Whitley and family of Ballinger, and Mr and Mrs Floyd Luce and baby of Mereta.

Sheriff Blaylock said Vivian Wilfong of Coin Iowa confessed to taking part with Clyde Stratton Roy Huffman and James Hairston in the Milano bank robbery on December 16 and related burglaries and car thefts. The trio were captured after a nationwide pursuit. the case goes to the district grand jury January 4.
Announcement from First Baptist Cameron says Dr. J. R. Scarbrough former Cameron pastor and current president of Southwestern Seminary Fort Worth will preach Sunday night January 4 as part of the Southern Baptist victory campaign to lift church indebtedness. Educational director Wes Black will also begin service January 2. Everyone is invited to attend.
M. Burns reports that Mr. Johnson of Sulphur Springs will visit Cameron within days to discuss establishing a chicken hatchery. The project stems from Burns efforts with cooperation from the East Texas Chamber of Commerce.
Fred Young former local high school star returns home for holidays and is noted as a key strength on the Southwestern University football team for the season.
Chester Hargrove 18 was killed December 25 1926 when his car crossed a train track and burned after a collision with a Santa Fe passenger train obstructed by a standing siding train. He was buried December 26 1926 at Sand Grove cemetery with Aubrey Wadlington injured and hospitalized.
Three young men charged with robbing a Texas bank of seven thousand dollars confess their plan. Hairston, Stratton, and Huffman were captured after loot totaling 4000 was found along a southwest Iowa highway. Hairston, about 20, says he will plead guilty and admits the crime began in Snu der, Texas, with a stolen car taken at Mineral Wells. The trio fled through Oklahoma Kansas and Nebraska toward Beatrice, Neb, before arrest.
