Turkey Prices Dip, Coffee Costs Rise in Texas Market Survey
Agriculture Commissioner John C. White released the third monthly Texas market basket survey. Turkeys showed savings of up to ten cents a pound in November while coffee costs rose about 20 percent. The statewide average for 20 commonly bought items fell to 18.19 from 18.26, amid producer losses of more than 1 per bird as demand lagged. White linked coffee price hikes to frost damage in Brazil that killed 550 million trees and reduced remaining trees.
