Fire Inspection Team Tours Cameron for New Fire Maps
An Austin based five man team from the state insurance commissioner’s office is touring Cameron businesses and real estate to collect data for new fire maps and rates. The inspectors, H. B. Matthews Bill Thurman Jim Schnell Harvey Goslin and Bill Truitt, will complete inspections around January, marking Cameron’s first fire insurance data survey in about a decade.

Murder charge filed in four child deaths in Rockdale
Homer Ward age 50 of Rockdale faces murder with malice charges after four children died in a house fire in Rockdale. Ward was caring for the children while their mother was away and reportedly started the blaze. Ward is held without bail in Milam County Jail and bound over to the district grand jury.

Final Rites Held For Mrs. Brewer Native Countian
Mrs. W. S. Brewer a lifelong Milam County resident died December 11 in Rosebud after a long illness. Funeral services were at Marek-Burny Funeral Home with Rev. EJ Davis of the First Methodist Church presiding. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery. Born January 23, 1873 in Cameron she lived on the same farm her whole life. She was daughter of James Slocomb who settled the county in 1871 and helped build the first courthouse. A member of the First Methodist Church Woodman Circle and active in organizing Home Demonstration Clubs. Survivors include son Sam Brewer Cameron daughter Mrs Ernest Howard Waco four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren Pallbearers listed.

Fund Board Calls For Renewed Drive
