Cameron Marauder Pilot Decorated For Combat Exploits

Major Thomas J. White, a 20 year old Cameron native and Rice Institute graduate, based with a B-26 Marauder unit in Europe, was decorated with the Air Medal and two Oak Leaf Clusters for combat missions. He joined the Army in 1941 and went through training at Muskogee Randolph and Ellington. He led the St Omer raid and advanced from Captain to Major in June 26, 6-26 Maryland dateline noted.

Soldier Marvin J. Zajicek Joins British Isles Infantry

Buckholts native Staff Sergeant Marvin J. Zajicek serves in the Infantry on foreign soil in the British Isles. A 26 year old with three years in the military, he volunteered on September 27, 1940. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Zajicek of Houston, trained at Fort San Houston and Camp McCoy before overseas duties.

Milam County Surpasses War Chest Quota Leader Praised

Milam County under A W McCullin oversubscribes its War Chest quota by 600 with a total of 10652 dollars reported at noon Wednesday. McCullin plans to announce community-by-community figures next week and credits local leadership and Cameron Lions Club president for the success.

Foreign Property Reporting Notice For Cameron Citizens

Cameron citizens owning property in foreign countries must file reports with the Treasury before December 1, 1913. Reno couple welcomes daughter Elizabeth Ann

Mr and Mrs Fred Reno announce the birth of a daughter born Saturday night November 27 1943 at Newton Memorial Hospital. Dr Leland Denson reports mother and baby doing well and the child named Elizabeth Ann for her grandparents. This is the Reno family’s first birth in 40 years and Fred Reno of the Palace of Sweets will turn 41 this week.

Buckholts Soldier in Pacific Fighting Japs

Private Vince Zajicek, 28, of Buckholts, serves in a U S Army infantry unit in the Pacific. He volunteered in December 1943 and is the son of Mr and Mrs John Zajicek, formerly of Buckholts and now in Houston. His brother, Staff Sergeant Marvin Zajicek, is with forces in the British Isles. Vince trained in Colorado and at Fort Ord before heading to the Pacific battle zone.

Lieut Billie Wilson Returning From North African War Front

Soldier Earl Humbird Fights in Munda Battle

Pvt Earl Humbird served in the Munda engagement with American and Australian forces and saw action in New Caledonia.
