Thorndale Business Men Hold Session With Initiatives
Thorndale Commercial Club met last Thursday after a delayed November 11 session. They assigned Henry Ross and Smith Summerlin to recheck local Cotton on Five Acres entrants, remeasure plots, record yields and costs for state contest eligibility. The club also addressed fire prevention, seeking a switch to disable the siren during non emergency tests and urged W. B. Elliott to inspect business flues. They discussed a poultry short course by International Harvester Company in January, and Charity Committee head L. D. Barnes reported no issues beyond concerns of hard times.

Death Calls Mother Mrs Lehman at Thorndale Home
Mrs. Mary Lehman aged 71 died at her son Charlie Lehman’s Thorndale home on November 18. Burial followed in Serbia with Rev Fisher of Giddings Lutheran Church officiating. Survived by six children 33 grandchildren 42 great grandchildren and many relatives. Born in Weisenberg Germany March 7 1843 she came to America in 1855 enduring yellow fever hardship in Houston.
