Cameron Lions Club Tuesday luncheon featured Texas University President H Y Benedict presenting a simple engaging astronomy talk. The program included music by Gladys Davis and vocal duets by Mrs Harsha Nicholson and Mrs Hurdle. University graduates and local officials attended, among them Judge J A Ralston, Judge T S Henderson, Judge Graham Gillis, Judge John Watson, and County Superintendent Mrs K K Robbins.

UT President Dr Benedict Addresses 10 Students on Astronomy
Dr. H. Y. Benedict president of the University of Texas spoke to high school faculty students and visitors on astronomy. Using a scale of 1000 miles to the inch he mapped Texas as a thumb nail and toured nearby planets and then sidereal space to the nearest star about 10 000 light years away and beyond to distant nebulae.

Mrs Sallie Stiles 86 Died at Pleasant Retreat
Mrs. Sallie Stiles aged 86 died at her home near Pleasant Retreat on Saturday November 26. The funeral was Sunday at 3 p m at Pleasant Retreat Methodist church with interment in Connerly burying grounds beside her late husband. She was a Texas native, long-time resident, charter member of the church, and survived by five children including W D Stiles, F N Stiles, Ervin S Stiles, and two daughters. A niece, Mrs. H H Stedman, also noted. A large gathering attended.

Funeral of Calvert Businessman Cooper Allen

The third annual Milam County Recreational School met in Cameron at the Baptist Sunday School annex. Mrs Kay Moore directed with Mrs Cecil Plate and Mrs Mabel Charles in charge during her absence. Sessions featured charades plays and games with talks on campfire games storytelling and character building. Fifty to sixty participants attended daily as farm clubs prepare to sponsor December community entertainments.
